    Default Mosaics!!!

Hi lads, just starting a job for a customer, it,s a straight forward bathroom wall and floor, about half way up the wall the customer is wanting a mosaic border, it is made up of 15mm square glass + stone mosaics, the tile centre sold her a tin of ""seal-guard" aerosol to use on the mosaic @£30.00 a tin, I,ve told her to take it back and get your money returned. I,ve put up hundreds of mosaic borders (glass + stone) using just a good adhesive + waterproof grout, any thoughts about this???

I think you will find the seal-guard is to protect the stone from moisture ingress and potential staining. What "waterproof" grout do you use - epoxy?

Seal Guard is also designed to protect and increase the life of the grout it's pretty useful to prevent staining in power shower areas. Retail is normally in the region of £25. Its just a more domesticated way of sealing natural stone as you would do normally.

Its certainly not the be all and end all but it is better than doing nothing at all.

IMO... i think its good for the grout but the stone tiles should probably be sealed anyway.
