Travertine tiles on wall & floor.
Hi guys, i'm looking for a bit of advice if you wouldn't mind.
I have a bathroom coming up soon as follows.
1)Floor is chipboard. ( 2.5m2 )
2)Walls are tiled in bath area ( bath to ceiling ), emulsion elsewhere.
3)Box section around toilet & sink is plywood ( 500mm high )
Tiles will need removing & walls made good. The room will be tiled floor to ceiling ( including box sections ) , with undertile heating mat laid.
So......
Would it be best to fit plasterboard or backerboard after the tile removal?
Should i replace the ply box sections with plasterboard/backerboard?
Would it be good practice to lay ply/backerboard on the floor, then undertile heating , then ditra matting, then tiles? ( which Bal adhesives & grout would be best for the walls & floors )
Thanks.

On a floor that size I would be considering giving Plastic Ply a look I think checking out my options.

Yeah i've had a look at that stuff but i'm not fully convinced of its use.
Can it really do the job of over laying ply & uncoupling membrane, mmmm.
Think i'll get some info sent out.
Any thoughts as to the other questions?
Don't seem to be getting any inputs.

hi there,
i would definatley replace your plaster board with 12mm hardie backer, it will take 45kg per m2 against plasterboard which takes 32kg, being that it is travertine you are using(30kg approx per m2 including addy, overlay the floor with 6mm hardie backer and use bal raidset flexible white for the whole lot.
seal before grouting (this will stop the tiles absorbing the grout and make it easier to clean off) and agian once final clean has been done.
hope this helps

BAL wouldn't guarantee their adhesives on 6mm hardie on a floor unless you used Fastflex Martin.
