I am with Abbey too. Of late I have found it seems to take an age to get cleared funds into my account, especially if cheques are sent through the post. I too, am considering moving. i will even resort to paying reasonable charges as long as I can get cash into my account, same day!

I used to be with HSBC but found them disorganised and unfriendly to small businesses. Have since switched to Nat West..have had no problems

I am with the Nat too.....no problems at all. I did the legwork at the start and was cheesed off by certain banks who didnt want to help / advise unless you were
prepared to commit....comparisons against the Halifax only recently found the bank charges with the Nat are much less.

I use HSBC, everything is free and Im having no problems. Seem to be very good (although their website sucks) and they even gave me a direct number and a name to speak to if needed.

Have used Abbey for my single account for 31 years, and also with no problems.

Glad to hear you have a good relationship with your bank/branch. I had dealings for about 4 years with RBS up here and the only interest they had was for their own profits. They were difficult, obstructive and worst of all, expensive!

Can't say I will go back to them very quickly, if ever.
