Discuss floorboards in the Tiling Forum at TilersForums; If floorboards are good no squeaks or movement do you still need to screw them down if they only have nails in them ? thanks...

    Default floorboards

    If floorboards are good no squeaks or movement do you still need to screw them down if they only have nails in them ? thanks

    WHAT TYPE OF FLOORBOARDS IS IT CHIPBOARD OR T AND G?

    also are you going to ply over them?A flexi adhesive and grout should be used.

    YES imo,cos even tho you cant see them moving they will be,and your at least elimi nating another risk

    everything that can be screwed, should be screwed!!!! (no puns boys) ,floorboards, ply , cement board, marmox, wedi, nails will delaminte after a period (no puns) of time, so screw it down.

    just normal floorboards. will be putting down no more ply glued and screwd. ok belts and braces it is then.

    Hi Groucho - Be very careful of pipes and cables lurking under the floorboards, screwing into already fitted floorboards without be able to see what's under them is a recipe for disaster!
