Re: tiles on tiles
Tiling onto tiles??
Apart from the weight issues, not knowing how the existing tiles are fitted to the plaster and how sound the plaster is/bonded to the brickwork, how are you going to guarrantee your work. If any of the tiles fall off and injure someone, I think I'm right in saying your insurance is unlikely to pay out which means you will be personally liable...
I recently fully tiled a wall and as I was finishing, I decided to take a tile off and reset it because it wasn't sitting right. As I pried it off, all the plaster came with it right back to the brick. I had tested the wall for blown plaster but did not detect any. In the end, I had to remove/clean off all the tiles, strip off the old plaster and reboard the wall. I could have patched over the problem and the client would have been none the wiser, but it would have been a disaster waiting to happen, with my name on it...
