Re: Confused about sealing off tiles!
not sure what the procedure is called but i basically put granfix tubbed adhesive on the wall and also on the tile and secured them.. for the top tile i have left the last 1 cm or so with very little adhesive on so i thought i could fix a trim but looks like that has been scrapped as i cant find a trim that big..

Re: Confused about sealing off tiles!
Hi again..
We like to try and advise peeps the correct materials to use especially when fixing large format tiles like them.....And we do not advise peeps to use a tubbed dispersion adhesive like you have.....you will have to leave those tiles for quite a while to allow that adhesive to dry.....
Tubbed dispersion adhesive dries by contact with the air..( moisture dispersion) and it will take alot longer to dry towards the centre of those tiles...
We normally recommend to use a cement based adhesive as this chemically sets and would dry in a specified time...hope this has helped for future tiling projects..
Regarding the finish at the top.....then you could go with gaz's recommend of a dado tile or just could finish it off with some dado rail ( timber )...or finally seen as it is above eye level you could just point in with grout etc and decorate..
thanks for sharing those pics with us...

Please be very sure that the adhesive has dried b4 grouting up, the colour of the tiles will guide you, if they are dark in the middle and light outside....they still need to dry b4 grouting....Gaz

If used on the correct size of tile....no bigger than 300x300 then normally 24 hrs at 20dgs cel......but those tiles you have could take weeks IMO...

Re: Confused about sealing off tiles!
To be honest mate its down to your personal preference, depends on the look you want for the room and what the other walls have had done IMO.
The plasters not dry enough to tile yet though mate, dont fall for the plasterers old "it'll be dry in a couple of days mate". three to four weeks of air drying is the recomeneded time i believe.
Edit: Is that window really as low as it looks or is it just the camera angle?

Re: Confused about sealing off tiles!
oli - yeh that picture was taken about 10 days ago.. its dried a fair bit at the moment so i might just tile on it.. as for the window yes it is a bit low..
dave - im thinking of tiling right to the top of the window to match the rest of the walls..

Re: Confused about sealing off tiles!
If it was a float and set would hang on a few more days, Theres moisture in the substrate which still need to evaporate
