Re: Mosaic Help
Don't go overboard on the trowel, if they are small mosaics then even a 3mm trowel will be fine and use a float to help press them to the wall which will give you a nice flat finish. Setting out etc is the same, just take your time and look how the tiles fall before you start laying, obv you have to worry less about slivers etc. Alsodepending on the tile it may be worht using a white adhesive as well. Make sure you clean the tiles up before it sets, will save you loads of time when it comes to grouting.

Re: Mosaic Help
as nickj says dont go over board on the adhesive, i use a damp thick folded cloth to apply slight pressure to level and clean at same time.

Re: Mosaic Help
The correct procedure for the sheets is stagger them on each row...

Re: Mosaic Help
How do you get the spacing right so it's not obvious that there are 300mm square panels?

Re: Mosaic Help
It all depends how the mosaic comes on sheets. I prefer a method of removing every other square to form an interlocking method and as Gaz says stagger the sheets.
Mosaic comes in all styles such as this that that i have just done for a tourist information centre.

Re: Mosaic Help
These ones I've got are in 300mm square panels.
So, removing every other square to interlock them would give you a continuous finish. Then I guess it's a question of continually checking the levels to make sure each course (of sheets) is both vertical and horizontal - would I be right?

Re: Mosaic Help
Just use your eyes, if it looks right then it will be right.
Pay attention to the condition of the walls as a bumpy wall will look bad, spend time flattening the walls if needed.

Re: Mosaic Help
Thanks
All the walls concerned are dry lined, using either plasterboard or aquapanel near the shower and bath areas.
Whilst they're not as straight as a die they are quite good, certainly straight within a mm or 2.

Re: Mosaic Help
It'll be sometime yet, it's our own bathroom, you wouldn't honestly think I'd practice on someone else's house now do you?
I'm so busy at the moment, I've even been working today. I don't think I'm going to get much done to it this side of Christmas.
But yes I'll get the pictures uploaded for you when its done, remind me if I forget.
