hacked off
hello all, dont post on here to often but feel the need to vent my anger today ........fed up with local tile showroom mugging me off. Been tiling for 5 years plus self employed.....been up n down as being self employed allways is.Local showroom taken me on (self employed-job 2 job) thought GREAT! phone hasnt been ringing to much so some nice regular work sounded like a bit of a gift!............couple of weeks in i feel like telling them where to stick it! I was under no illusion that i would be taking a cut in money but didnt expect them to refuse to pay me for a day worked! (allthough a day rate basis was agreed) every job attended has been a c@@k up including today(kitchen splashbacks on 3 sides /under windowledge) turn up ....walls a mess once again! went bk to showroom and they told me to give the customer a price 2 skim the walls....wich i did, will be there 2moro as am spending today cleaning up/ searching 4 trowel hawk muck board buying bonding coat pva etc....as they get used infreqently. not on imo unprofesional bunch of cowboys...lucky i got couple of days 2 play with otherwise wouldve job gone TI@@ up ! Anyone getting messed about in a similar way? please let me know.......share the pain!!!

Re: hacked off
Try if you can to see the job before you go to tile. I know sometimes this is not possible but it can save the "Pain".
Never assume anything, check for yourself.
As for the tile shop mugging you, well thats for you to decide if its worth it. Times are hard and these people know that you need the work. They may use this to get you to do more than is your responsibilty...again thats your choice.
Oh and yes....it happens to most of us from time to time.

Re: hacked off
this used to happen to me.the tile shop only wanted to sell the tiles and addy and did nt have the knowledge of what to lok for on site. so i told them i would happily go with them to price job up, as they were loosing custom because it was nt explained to the customer why the installation cost had gone up.after a while of going to look at jobs and explaining to the guy from shop what to look out for they now get it right (most of the time). but i always prefer to have a look myself so i know what i am lookng at ad can make small adjustments.
FAT PEOPLE ARE HARDER TO KIDNAPP

Re: hacked off
Go and talk to some more tile showrooms.
The banks are now looking a bit more solvent now, lending may get easier and cheaper, so more people may bite.

Re: hacked off
Sounds like you are stuck with a bad crowd. Our local tile shop has a great team of tile fixers, delivery drivers, suppliers and friendly.
I'm always in there for a cup of tea! Sounds like you need a new base.
