Q-Rock Tiles advice
hi there
im about to start my first diy tiling job and ive bought some 600 x 300 slate effect q rock tiles from topps tiles, after doing lots of research on here i have 2 queries,
1. do they need sealing
2 . am i right in doing this
1. tile with bal mosaic fix onto the screed floor
2 use bal protective sealer on all tiles
3. grout
4. clean off tiles.
finaly if i did all of this and found the tiles to need sealing is it ok to put sealer on tiles that have been grouted?ie does the sealer effect the grout?
thanks
jon

Re: Q-Rock Tiles advice
1. No they don't need sealing.
2. Yes you are right in what you say.
The Bal protective sealer helps you clean off the grout when you have finished grouting.
Have laid these tiles before. Nice Tiles

Re: Q-Rock Tiles advice
i would recommend using an extra strong residue remover to clean the tiles before grouting as they have a waxy protective coating on them to prevent scratching in transit if the wax is not cleaned off then the grout can cling to the tile and make it a lot harder to clean off

Re: Q-Rock Tiles advice
Q-rock are a glazed porcelain and don't require sealing, be sure to check they have not got a wax coating on them 1st, this can sometimes be factory coated to protect in transit, and must be removed before grouting. Topps will recommend the Fila Stone stripper for this...Gaz
