Default You could'nt make it up

This is only short but just had to share it.

Doing a bathroom for a customer, they were so happy with results they asked, if they had the bath boxed in, wouLd I continue the tiles around the bath.

No problem says I, will even do it at no extra charge.

Turns up 2 days later. They have 2x2 for the frame and 3 sheets of 4mm ply.

I advise them that the ply was too thin, they disappear and ring a local tile supplier. Bear in mind that this shop/unit have been in business for quite a few years (15+).

They come back, still on the phone and tell me that the guy at the tile shop says "Just use plasterboard for around the bath, we use it all the time and have never had a problem"

    i get on the phone:

Me: "Plasterboard for bathpanels ? "

    Shop: "Yes"

Me: "Display models by any chance ? "

    Shop: "Yes"

Me: "Any of these displays actually got water connected ? "

    Shop: "Errr, Mmm, Well..."

Give him his due - it was friday.

The trouble is Fekin is the customers believe every word then we've to put them right and convince them otherwise

But the customers think we're the ones telling lies not the sales advisors

Some places are still advising that walls should be treated with PVA before tiling.

One chap in Travis Perkins was heard telling a customer that silicone sealant never went off. I interrupted and asked him how did he avoid getting it on himself when he got in the bath? He meant that it remained flexable.

Simply recommend the counter staff to tile their job, as they are far more experienced than you.....

If that shop assistant was my teenage son, I would be advising him to move out while he still knew everything.
