Default subsided floor

Hi guys.has been a while since ive been on here so thought it was about time i hit you with another question.
Im going to be tiling a bathroom floor at 4 m2.the house has subsided that much that theres around 2 1/2 inch fall from one side of the bath to the other and the plumber has put the bath in level.how do I make up that 2 and 1/2 inch gap from under the plastic (and round) bath panel??
originally being a landscaper......what are your thoughts on using sand and cement gobbo rather than adhesive??? or is that just daft?!!

thanks in advance
joe

Hi Joe, have come across this problem myself a couple of times and tried different solutions. On one job, the floor was convex in the middle and I used extra thick tile adhesive to keep the tiles level; a real nightmare and not recommended. On another job, the floor had about a one inch slope but it wasn't important to keep the tiles level so I levelled them a bit without increasing the adhesive thickness too much then put a strip of white plastic (used around windows) along the bottom of the bath panel to hide the gap. One another job, the slope was so bad, we had to lift all the floorboards and pack out the joists to re-level the floor. On another job, we used a one part self levelling compound but you have to make sure you seal all the gaps otherwise it will run down between them and into the void between the joists.

thanks daveyboy,
just had that problem myself.......20m2 of 60 x 30 tiles, staggered on really uneven and unlevel dining room floor.went through twice as much adhesive as what I originally quoted!took an extra day to get right too!!looked good at the end tho.
the plastic stips a good idea tho.will go round tomorrow to see if thatl work, cheers.

Don't think it will accommodate a 2 1/2" difference though, good though it is!

Maybe the best way is to lay the tiles on the sloping floor (assuming it is flat) and build a new bath panel to accommodate the slope?

Just realised that it is a "round" bath panel so maybe not!!!

Self leveling compound? That's what I'd use to correct it.
