| any advice | | Hello,
I am looking for some experience in tiling I live in staines I do not have any experience at the moment but am really keep to learn.
I am hoping to find a course as well but am not sure which is the best one to do at the moment I have seen alot of these 2 week courses but I cant imagine you can learn much more than the basics in 2 weeks.
If anyone could give me some experience even if its just helping out with the basics and just watching and learning that would be great
thank you | | |

| Re: any advice | | Hello and welcome to the forums
I think you would be best looking at the course feedback section and have a look through the threads, book yourself on a course learn the basics, and then do friends and families to build confidence as well as looking on here for advice.
And away you go.. | | |

| Re: any advice | | Hi Tim and welcome to the forum mate, sorry i cannot comment on courses having served a 5 yr apprenticeship back in the late 70s.Only suggestion i could make would be to approach a tiler or tiling company and ask if they would be willing to give you some unpaid days with them.I know that way you do not earn money but then again you wouldnt on a course.Put a card in a distributors, someone may take up your offer and if it works out for all concerned they might even offer you a paid position.

Jimmy | I've always been of the opinion that if they can get you to work for nothing, why would they bother paying you!?!
My advice (and i'm not really in a position to offer it, as i'm in pretty much the same boat as you) is to offer your service cheap, but never free. | | |

Normally i would agree with you mate, but as said he has no experience of tiling, therefore would show willing to a future employer, thus giving both of them the chance to see how he works/copes with it.
I personally would`nt pay someone a days rate if i had to fetch and carry and cut everything myself. If the guy shows willing and has a good aptitude, then maybe someone would offer him work after only a couple of days. |

| Re: any advice | | Hi Ti. Welcome to the forums mate. You need to do some sort of course imo and then try and work with other tilers or do tiling work for family and friends to build up your confidence. Good luck mate Ross | I feel the need, the need for speed! |
