I have been asked to give a quote for a shop floor that is 56m2 using 600x600 porcelain tiles supplying the adhesive and grout I am a 1 man band and new to the trade as only finished course 6 months ago. do you think this job may be a little too much for one person and how long should it take? I appreciate everybody works at a different speed i just, need some idea as i have never done a job bigger than a conservatory floor.

I would say a lot depends on the shape of the floor and also the substrate. If the floor is flat screed and rectangular or square, it is not much problem. I suspect your hardest issue to overcome is confidence. Why don't you treat it in your head as 4 separate 14m2 floors and look at it that way.

We are always here to help if you have questions. I am sure you will be fine.

As for the speed, you will always get people on here saying it will only take a day, but for you only you can judge how long it will take. If it was me, I would be allowing 7 to 10 days because that is how fast I work.

Well this would all depend on your confidence in yourself and how much skill you have.
You would need to work out what you could lay per day and find out what the tile allowance was for the job. they may say it has to be done within 3 days. This i feel would be out of your league.
Fixing 600x600 tiles isnt as easy as 300x300. Although clients seem to think that the bigger the tile the faster you can lay.

I think that you have to look at it objectively, your not sure if the job is to big for you, therefore your laying out money for materials for a job that you are not 100% confident about,if your not confident enough you should not do it,however confidence comes with experience so maybe you should do it,but be prepared to lose out if it goes pearshaped.

If you decide to do the job be prepared and make sure you have a labourer with you the last thing you need is to be up and down carrying and fetching when using a large format tile.

Good luck in whatever you decide
