quote help 7m2 splashback
just after a bit of help on a quote, pretty ticky to do.
basically, 7 m2, (14 linear metres going up 500mm)
15 sockets ( one hell of a lot.)
3 different worktop areas, 1 window reveal.
no cooker hood to deal with. tops all nice and level
what would you guys all go in at, price and how long? i am not the quickest, but not slow either
oh - 100mm square tiles normal bond, no fancy diagonals or bonds!!
walls are all fine
just a lot of sockets!!!!!
cheers in advance

Your'd want at least two days plus mats

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
Id probably go for 3 days as id grout it on the third. You might nail it in two long days but charge for 3 anyway as i always find 100x100's a pain.

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
day and a half too qucik for me, as i'd be wanting addy to set properly, so that would mean 1 day to do all tiling, then back next afternoon to grout.
i was thinking 1.5-2 days to actually tile, what with all the sockets, and then an hour or 2 to grout.
probably will go in at 300 plus materials (addy, grout, trim)
£325 me thinks
cheers for advice

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
My first proper tiling job was almost exactly as you have described. Took me days and days! 15 sockets to cut around, 1/2 a day there really!
Check out my gallery http://www.tilersforums.co.uk/tilega...user=1652&sl=g it's in there.

Im noting this priceng method though for kitchens I generally charge £45 per m plus materials.
A sockets a socket... does it matter how many there are?
Dont forget long socket screws!

Yes it does matter ...because its obviously more time consuming...

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
I'd price it at 2.5 days. You'll get it tiled in two days, maybe one if you put the hours in, then go back and grout the following day.
You'll get used to the sockets in the end, how do they fall with tiles on the job? I've had a splashback today 150x150mm tiles and most of the sockets required plunge cuts. Out of interest do you boys knock the juice off when you are fiddling about trying to get the tile over the sockets?

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
£250 - £300 + Mats

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
And don't forget to take some socket screws with you!

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
2 days for me on £150 day rate so £300 15 sockets is alot to cut around the average kitchen is about 6

If the job requires plunge cuts, i get a spark to remove the socket facia and terminate the wires.

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
Its hard to judge a job without seeing it first, sometimes even after seeing it,it can take longer than originally thought.
For a guide,i would be disappointed if i did'nt have it complete in a day(hopefully half a day),but that's just me,price wise i would want around £200 (labour only).Which is'nt bad for a days work.
Pricing jobs is diffrent in diffrent parts of the country and i find some of the prices ,guys say they get on here astronomical, not that they are wrong i just know that i will not get those prices here,so depending on were you are,the prices will vary.
Hope that helps

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
As i posted a few months back time's are changing ,unfortunately in this game the cream does not always rise to the top,but people who work hard and price fairly will.

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
Personally for this 7m2 job i would quote my usual M2 rate plus a little extra for any hassle due to any excessive cutting and a return to job to grout. All in i would say a day and a half for the completed job.
The trouble with a day and a half is that it doesnt work like that in real life. It has to be 2 days unless you are fotunate enough to have another job you can drop onto after grouting.
So basically for the job i would be looking at covering 2 daywork money...what ever that is to you or me.

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
ive got 20 years tiling under my belt and i can be rapid when needs must but the the job that the op layed out i would definitely allow 2 days for , that gives you plenty time to let the job dry properly , silcone worktops , clean up etc,...

Re: quote help 7m2 splashback
massive thanks to you all, finished today, 350 all in, did monday 8 till 5, tuesday 10 till 4 and wednesday 9 till 2 ish. nice job, quite relaxing, but in all honesty, i could not have tiled all in 1 day and given it enough time to dry out to grout the next. so 2.5 days was fair i believe
cheers again
