Sound proofing?
Evening all? I have a customer asking what is the best boarding to use for good sound proofing. I am going to be tiling onto the board which is an upper floor bathroom and it's above the kitchen. I guess when he's doing the dinner he won't want to hear his wife singing in the shower

Re: Sound proofing?
Bal do a product
BAL Adhesives - Products - acousti-bond
Think it works with different boards maybe the Bal guys will have more replys for you. Dont really have a call for it here he could always wire the shower to the mains and everytime she sings she gets a wee shock.

Re: Sound proofing?
If the board is yet to be put up, just insulate the wall. If you can open up the floor and insulate it as well.
If you can't take off the subfloor, then drill small holes and fill the cavities with spray foam. Might take a bit of foam, so I guess it boils down to how much he wants to avoid hearing the shower serenade.

Re: Sound proofing?
I used soundproof plasterboard for a non-bathroom project (my home office) and just a point of note that the weight of these materials are very heavy.
My home office is where my old kitchen was. The neighbours kitchen is a direct mirror next door.
So I soundborded the whole room prior to making it the office.
Biggest mistake of my life. Next door are getting a divorce and I am missing out BIG TIME on all the rows. Cant hear a damn thing. Just the odd Muffled
from them
I do recommend Soundproof board because it really works. Just too good.
