Dune Tiles - your thoughts and alternatives (cheaper?)
Hi,
Just ripping out my bathroom (bath comes out tomorrow and last of the tiles). I will then be plumbing over the next day or two (or three or four....
) and fiting the new suite and shower after that.
My wife has spotted the DUNE tiles in a local suppliers - however they wanted a design before even coming up with prices as they 'fluctuate' daily. No samples available or even a brochure and as they are small format tiles, more than likely on a special order/no return basis it makes it hard to decide to go with them.
Does anybody recommend them? or what alternatives (and stockist) are out there.
Also, floor is currently 18mm chipboard - existing tiles came off easy (30 minutes with a cold chisel). I am going to be lifting it to get to the plumbing as we are moving the sink and radiator and was going to be putting down 18mm Ply in its place. However, if that floor comes up ok (not breaks up) I have thought about a backer board on top of it - especially nomoreply at 6mm. Would this be recommended?
I have yet to confirm what the joist and noggins are (although now knowing what the builder is like it will be minimum specification) so I might have to add some noggins where I can.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Steve
