Hello, your forum administrator, Dan Freakley, has given us permission to ask forum members for their opinion about a new, innovative, tiling aid that my company is developing. It is called SURETILE and is a depth spacer/tile support underlay which enables anyone to lay tiles perfectly evenly on a smooth surface, quickly and easily. You can see full details about the product (not yet available) on our website www.suretile.co.uk I would be very grateful if you'd take a look and give your considered opinion/feedback. It would also be really helpful if you would complete the short, anonymous, survey questionaire under the 'General/your opinion' tab on the website. In return, we will be happy to give forum members a 20% discount off the price if it ever comes to market.
Thanks for your input, Mark at suretile

Hi
It looks like making the job harder to me and adding more cost to it, can't see the point, i think having an ashtray on a motorcycle may have more use.

The most difficult and awkward part of the tiling process is not only trying to lay the tiles evenly, but trying to get all the tiles laid consistently evenly - not easy! And no-one has come up with a simple, sensible and inexpensive solution to the problem - till now.
The only solution is a talented tile setter.
That is why we are paid so handsomely.
Next they will come up with a paint and brush that will make your young child a Michelangelo.
I can't see this as being a useful idea at all.
There is a reason why there are different sized notchs on all our trowels.

I could see it working in the DIY market but not for a pro-tradesman....

I Can see the idea working for the diy market but not for professional fixer. And would people like BAL etc guarantee there adhesive work with this product?

I think a video of it being would be far better than your diagrams, which IMO, seem to look like they will hinder the installation rather than help it.

I would imagine it would have to be tested before anything could be gauranteed.
Maybe this company should look at this question before taking this product to market.

Sorry but I cant see how this works.
If your wall is flat, then the notch on the trowel gives you the bed depth you need.
From what I can work out, you need to spread the adhesive to at leaast 8 mm thich for you to stick in the 5mm suretile mesh, then still have a bed for the tile. As far as I'm aware tubbed gear can only be used upto 3mm, and most bagged only 6mm. :whatchutalkingabout
