    Default Mosaic over existing tiles

    Hello everyone
I priced a job up for a mate of mine last night, amongst other things he wants me to tile a full wall in his bathroom with ceramic mosaic over the existing tile. I've never done this before so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on it. I know there are weight limits but I'm unsure of how I would work out the weight of the existing tiles to make sure it's safe. The existing tiles are ceramic and measure 250mm x 200mm and they are fixed onto plasterboard. In my opinion it would be easier to rip it down and reboard but he said he doesn't really want to do that. Any advice/tips etc. would be much appreciated

    Cheers

    What top said
If it were a large format tile you would have to take the tiles down, but mosaics are fine.
I am not familiar with any BAL products, but as long as it is modified and has a real good add-mix then they should stick.
If there is a real pronounced grout line to the tile you are going over, you might want to smooth things out first with a skim coat of your thin-set just to get rid of the grout lines, let it dry, scrape off any ridges and lumps, then install the mosaics.

Bal Mosaic Fix has to be the best powdered tile adhesive i have used in 31 years. It mixes so smooth, only complaint is i would like to see a quicker setting time.
