help with lino problem
hi guys,
need advice on where to go with a quote, the job is to lay 17m2 of slate in a dining room ,was told the slate was going to go on concrete but when the carpet was lifted there was lino under it !!! its very well stuck down
customer has had a go getting it up, talked to him about backer board but he is worried about the cost and height difference, could the lino be covered with ply? somehow or any other way to go?cheers

Re: help with lino problem
to get lino or sheet vinyl or glued carpet for that matter up
cut into small strips about 200mm wide all the way down the room then just grad an end and pull, cutting it into strips reduces the force needed to uplift ,
also if it is lino it will crack and break, this is a pain to get up so turn up the heating or try to warm each strip up, with a heat gun, ( yeh i know who carries a heat gun around with em) you could use a gas gun but tricky if youve never used one you could melt it, the heat relaxes the lino and reactivates the adhesive so its easier to uplift
my guess its vinyl , cutting into strips will help alot
edit# oh get your self a hook blade for your stanley knife to cut it

Hardie needs to have an adhesive bed and to be mechanically fixed. Not a good idea to stick it to the vinyl and a pain to screw it into the concrete!
