The obvious answer is local companies are best!

I have an account with my local Ardex supplier and CTD amongst others. I only open cash accounts as I don't like unexpected invoices at the end of a month, although, I have been known to make purchases on my credit card - lol!

Speak to your local suppliers and get an idea of their trade prices and their knowledge and what they require from you to asses you for a trade account. It really is easy, but remember that the real reason you want a trade account is because you want cheaper materials!!!

when you go into tile shops hoping to open an account, its a good idea to take some letter headed paper proof that you are a business and receipts with company name on them if you have them.most will be ok but some do get a bit arsy....take business cards with you aswell.

some places may like you to make 3-4 seperate purchases first.
This proves you are a genuine trader.Once they get to know you you should be fine tho

Most will accept a combination two of the following, letterhead, business card, vat reciept, invoice.

Topps are quite strict and need two vat reciepts / invoices and a business card.

Some will let you leave business cards, some wont, but if you dont ask you defienatley wont get any on the desk!!
