change in floor levels

hi first post. im an amateur tiler want to lay tiles on a concrete floor adding underfloor heating which requires a 10mm insulation board. this will raise the floor level by approx 25mm with the tiles laid. At the moment the concrete is flush with the adjacent rooms wood floor so i will be left with a 25mm lip. Is this a common problem and how do you overcome the visual aspect in the change of level. Replies appreciated thanks

It is a common problem but thats the cost of having under floor heating and tiles you could use a thinner board under neath i use 6MM wedi board that ll knock 4mm off , where floor meets tiles use a threshhold strip thers all sorts of widths and sizes.

Schluter have a range of door profiles etc, failing that a joiner could make a reducer threshold where they are needed....Gaz

Aye, theres many transition strips to choose from and you don't really notice the difference once done.

thanks for the welcome and the replies. im a painter and decorator by trade but done a bit tiling for relatives etc (unpaid) This tiling job is in my kitchen just concerned what a 25mm step up will look like visually.

Transition strips are necessary, unless you fancy building all your other floors up an inch...lol

We have issued like this all the time David, it's nothing new, and with a simple door trim the height difference is nothing to sort out with ease
