    Default B & Q Tiles - Again

Hi all, currently tiling a kitchen floor using B & Q 600mm x 600mm black polished porcelain tiles. Customer got everything from B&Q including cleaner and sealer.

Customer noticed that tiles were not jet black, but was apparantly told by B & Q advisor that the sealer would darken the origional colour of the tile, and this was backed up by a customer who had previously fitted them. I have told customer that sealer will not change colour of tile that drastically, and the point has been proven today as after coating tiles with sealer, they still looked a very dark shade of brown. Was this advice from B & Q correct ?? I have never heard of a sealer that changes the colour of a tile !! Or maybe B & Q have invented something no-one knows about ??

When you say B&Q advisor, do you mean shop assistant or some kind of proffesional in the tiling dept?

Not to mention treading carefully on the tiles, to avoid staining

    He's being sarcastic!

And from personal experience, the old B&Q porcs - 12 months ago - were darker and looked black when wet.

The newer stuff is definitely brown and I suspect due to all the claims they had regarding staining, they are less porous now too, so won't really absorb as much sealant. (guessing)
