    Default Shower area

Hi, all. As part of my first job i have to tile an area around the bath that has a mixer tap above as a shower. I was going to use nicobond aqua ultra grip adhesive. would you advise to tank the area first as well?
Also the walls are painted at moment and i know this should be removed but for the life of me i can't see how. Would 'keyying' the surface with a good sand paper be ok. The paint seems sound on the surface.
Also does anyone use granfix adhesives as my local shop sells it, though its more expensive than nicobond.
    Sorry for long question.

If the area is going to be used a lot then tank it with BAL WP1 kit,get them from CTD.The walls should be sound and free from flaking paint so sort that first before tanking.

a Handy tip for removing emulsion from walls is to skim over it
with a cheap readymix wall tile adhesive, leave for half an hour,
then it will scrape off very easily.
