need some advice people. I completed a showflat with a view to finish 30 flats.I priced the walls of ceramic white with a border of 30m2 which inc grout, adhesive and trim. When I turned up to start the showflat there was loads of boxing and that they wanted the tiles to be fixed as brickwork. I didnt price the boxing and the layout of the tiles. This as we all know takes a little longer to fix especially the boxing .Now they want me to complete the rest i think i should put my price up but i could lose the contract. Thoughts????

Re: showflat
obviously my price was put in writing on email but is was only to do the showflat.Im still waiting for the new contract for the other flats.as i said there was no mention of the extra parts of the tiling

Re: showflat
I would personaly work how much extra it is and have a chat/refer to the price on the email and go from there, No point in doing the rest of the flats and losing money on all the boxing work unless you know you can swallow the difference and still make money

Re: showflat
Depends on how much margin you had on the show flat in the first place really mate, if you went in cheap and cant afford to carry on at that rate for the others then you'll have to have a chat with them. Are they wanting all the other 30 flats the same?
You may well find that they are wanting different tiles for the others anyway which will give you the chance to requote anyway?

Re: showflat
I CERTAINLY WOULDNT BE DOING IT FOR NOTHING,MY ADVICE IS TO GET ON THE PHONE TO WHOEVER YOU ARE DEALING WITH AND EXPLAIN THIS IN A NICE WAY AND STATE THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO NEGOTIATE A PRICE FOR THE EXTRA WORK INVOLVED....but dont let them extract the urine m8.

Re: showflat
I'm a bit of a fan of the brickwork pattern myself on the 600x300 porcelains

Agreeing price is sometimes a bit of delicate negotiation. Customers may not realise certain styles and room layout can add to the TIME in a significant way. Good luck with negotiations and contact me for a bulk price deal when you need to drill holes in all those bathrooms!!

Re: showflat
going to speak to them anyhow but just wanted peoples views.if they dont want to sort out a new price then ill just walk away.they have also asked me to lay a sound proof matt before tiling on the floor.have spoken to the company and its just a matter of cutting to the floor then laying with a spray adeshive.how much should one charge? £40???
