Re: Calling it a day!!!!!!
Sorry to here your strong thoughts on giving up as a tiler Ninja. It certainly aint easy I can vouch for that, but if you feel that way about something then maybe tiling isn't for you.
I hope you can still remain an active member here on the forum and hope that the tiling spark reignites sometime in the future.
Until then all the best in whatever you choose to do and remember what you have learned as a tiler will be with you for life. No one can take it away.
Cheers Mick

Re: Calling it a day!!!!!!
this maybe no use to you but when i first started out i was in the same boat i didnt really enjoy tiling i found it hard work, tiring, a pain in the backside really and i questioned whether i could make a living out of it but over time i gained speed confidence and now i couldnt imagine doing any other job.

Re: Calling it a day!!!!!!
Hi Ninja
it was the dust that got to me, unexpected consequences of an incident I attended in my former career I did my training in a big open factory unit up north in November, but working in a cramped room in the heat was too much for me. Face was very reactive to the dust and to be honest I wasn't that good as I was forever having to keep putting my reading glasses on and off to get a good grout line!
I am a few grand lighter in the pocket, but I was working my way to an early death if I had carried on.

Re: Calling it a day!!!!!!
I use to think its hard. I have been tiling for 12 yrs. But I lernt at the end of the day its as hard as you make it. I am so fussy on how level the floors are and how plumb the walls are before I tile them. If theres a dip or belly in the walls I get the customer to replaster the walls before. I don't now what other tilers do it would be grate to here.

U gotta learn to chill a little ninja. Don't get uptight thinking about a job. You know what your doing so just try and relax while tiling. If u hit a snag leave it and come on here for advice. We've all been where u are( well i have anyway)Was doing 12hr shifts and getting no where. Learned just to relax and it got better.

Re: Calling it a day!!!!!!
Sorry to hear you're packing the tiling in, make sure you keep all your kit and then when you need some extra cash you can put your feelers out, if you try tiling that way you may find it more enjoyable as there will be no pressure for you to earn xxx amount per week, if you do do some more tiling...take you time and try not to panic..good luck whatever you decide...Mark.

Re: Calling it a day!!!!!!
Its always sad when someone calls it a day. I know a few good tilers who have packed up purely because they couldn't stand working on their own and sought company or at least someone to talk to. It could be there is someone on here who is like minded and lives in your area and things may work with a partnership. It is great to have a sounding board sometimes especially when you woirk in small confined spaces.
Good Luck
