Supply door threshold and trim?
Hi all
Do you supply these or leave it to the customer? Surely its hard to know what threshold to supply when you don't know what the new height of tiled floor will be (current floor coverings still down may need overboarding etc, customer hasn't chosen tiles) do you show the customer pictures?
Thanks
Aaron

Re: Supply door threshold and trim?
It might be worth keeping a few of the most popular ones in stock, Save having to rush around when you need one

Re: Supply door threshold and trim?
Thanks all.
Got a bit of a fussy customer
don't want the old 'why did you put that there' or 'don't like that at the end of the job'!
I think i'll add something like this to my t&cs
Tile trim and thresholds will be supplied and fitted unless otherwise instructed by client.
sticka takka whats that m8?

Re: Supply door threshold and trim?
Yep very important Dave...i think its been hard for me with lack of experience with these things at mo next jobs i'm going to take some example pictures with me in future i hope to refer people to my website. Its never easy explaining all these things to the customer they really need to see pictures. Plus i don't know what i'm talking about

Re: Supply door threshold and trim?
I usually discuss the door finishing with my client at quotation stage and explain that I can provide some sort of trim at a cost. I always leave approx 10mm between tiles and existing flooring for expansion so door bar is generally not an issue and is easily resolved.

Re: Supply door threshold and trim?
Go to your local tile shops and laminate flooring suppliers and see what is available. If threshold is tile to carpet I offer the Z-bar type, and if threshold is tile to laminate the equivalent. Choices are Gold coloured or Silver - finishes the job off for the customer. If drilling and plugging or fixing with Nails check to make sure there are no water pipes just underneath the surface within the threshold - you'll be surprised just how many builders put them there.
