Getting tiles level..! in the
Tiling Forum at TilersForums;
Hi guys i have laid a few floors now my setting out and cuts are excellent but the only problem have is getting tiles level lipping etc etc and tiles ... -

It's all in the prep work Nt......flat floors will make tiling easier........as for books click the link in my signature........

Try using a good straight edge held at both ends with a box of tiles, good old system.

The book in Dave's store called "ceramic and stone tiling" by John Ripley is good!

Thanks for the advice, if i was to use a timber straight edge how could i check that was level before i laying

You really need to find the centre of the room first and work from there, you can do this a number of ways but taking two measurements from the longest unimpeded wall will be easiest, longways and width ways..you should end up with a cross in the middle of the room

you should always aim (if your doing straight set) for your grout lines to run parallel to the walls otherwise the tiling won't look straight...

Enjoying it more now dave thanks to all the good people on this forum, i think i was having newbie blues once i get more more jobs under my belt i will feel more relaxed see how it goes cheers

MY 2 cents,never use timber as a straight edge as it will warp and for your joints,once you have set out as said above use spacers and you won't go wrong.
