Default Concrete floor

Hello everyone,

I have a concrete floor to tile for a friend but when i have looked at it, it has a crack in the concrete about a metre long. Would it be ok to tile to or would i have to try and sort it out? If so how would i do that?
Also when the new bathroom went in he said the place was flooded. this was about 4days ago. It still looks dampish so how long would you leave it before tiling?
Im just laying ceramic floor tiles so would normal rapid set be ok or would i have to go flexi?
Thanks for the info people.

Have you tapped the area around the crack to checked to see if you get a hollow sound

Well the crack has appearead when his dad tried to level the floor that was about 3 weeks ago ish? not sure what he used to level it as he is now working away. Im assuming he built up to much in one go and that's why it's cracking? Its not crumbling or flaky or anthing just causing me abit of concern....i haven't tapped it to check if it's hollow sounding
It's in an extension onto the house that was done i would say about3-4 years ago but im just guessing but one part of the concrete floor was about 2 inches out!. it's definately over 2 years old as it was there when i moved into the street a few doors down

You need to find out what he has done regarding levelling the floor before you proceed.......he might have levelled it incorrectly etc... so this could cause further probs...

Find out what he used etc before we go further.....woody...

1. If the concrete is solid, take a thin uncoupling matting to cover the crack and for saftey reasons. I think wetdecs will have something for this purpose.
2. At the recent climate I think 2 weeks waiting time should be sufficiant.
3. Flexi addy for both, also for fixing the matting.

You get what you pay for.

cheers for the advice everyone. I have another job to start now so it should be dry enough to start when i finish that one. I will have a look at the matting to see how much that is and advise him that will be the best way forward unless he want's probable problems in the future.....
