Porcelain tiles (B&Q)
hi all,
this is my first thread on this forum and am looking for an expert opinion on the B&Q 60 x 60 tiles.
I have bought the milk chocolate tiles and the grumpy man in the shop told me that I need to seal them. I have searched the forums and there are so many different opinions of whether or not you should seal them.
My builder is saying that I don't need to seal them but this is because I think he can't be botherd. He has already started to lay them today (nor grouting) and I am not sure whether to be on the safe side I should just seal them.
What do you think? If so what shall I use and long do you think it will take to do about 26 square meters?
Any help appreciated...
Thanks

Re: Porcelain tiles (B&Q)
you need to seal these tiles.firstly you need to use a degreaser on them applied with scourer then seal/impregnate them if done properly they good tiles if not a nightmare.depending on cuts and layout how long it wiil take poss 2 days.hope this helps

Re: Porcelain tiles (B&Q)
yes seal them ,it tells you to do so on the side of the packaging, seal with a suitable polished porcelain sealer...i use SOVEREIGN sealer for these tiles and they are fine, apply with a roller and then buff off the film with a clean dry cloth.

Re: Porcelain tiles (B&Q)
Hi everyone. Well, we just bought 80m2 of cream B&Q Polished Porcelain tiles, and I have now read all the threads on them (after buying, brilliant!). It seems clear to me that best practice is to clean them with de-greaser, and then seal them, before fitting, then again after grouting (please correct me if I'm wrong!!). So this is my question - I bought a sample pack, and they are now being shipped with a plastic film attached to each tile. I am REALLY hoping this means they aren't greased / waxed - but how can I be sure? I left some drops of water on them for 20 minutes, and there was very slight water absorption (i.e. I wiped the water away, but could see a tiny bit had soaked in). What do you experts think, greased, or not? (they don't feel greasy)...
Also, how much should I be paying to get about 70m2 fitted?? KT15 area (Addlestone, near Weybridge)

Re: Porcelain tiles (B&Q)
Cheers again Dave. Would be interested in a tiler recommendation too. The team of Polish blokes doing the main work have quoted already. They seem very good so far, but would like an expert view too. Its a lot of floor to get wrong!

I can recommend, but good tilers might not be able to compete with your guys..the choice is yours..as you say a big area and expensive to go wrong..

Re: Porcelain tiles (B&Q)
i've laid those exact tiles just last week with the film on them. I found them good to use, cut well, all same size and polish up well. I've even entered them in the job of the month on this forum. One bit of advice is just peel the film up at the edges of tile before fixing, makes it easier to remove after. There's some pictures in my albums
