    Default grouting mosaic hatch

    Hi all

I`ve built a boxed unit for a back to wall wc which has a top hatch lid for cistern access and then tiled with mosaics. Idea is to seal around the hatch edge tiles with sealant that matches the grout colour so it can be removed if need be.
Any tips on how to grout the tiles both around the hatch and ontop without inadvertantly getting all the grout down the hatch lid gap. Was thinking grouting the whole lot then waiting a few hours for the grout to harden a bit and then using a stanley knife to cut through the grout so the lid can be removed. then let it all dry before replacing it and sealing.
The hatch is an area about 600mm x 200mm.

hope you can make sense of that.

    Thanks

    Paul

I'd either grout very carefully and remove any excess while washing, or do the silicone first, and then grout. Either way, it's fiddly work.

ok thanks. silicone first sounds like a good idea as its a bit easier to control.
