Re: Help Plz? Cermaic, Slate Or Porclein Tile?
If its poliished porcelain then you need to seal, turn the tile over and put some water on the back, if it soaks in it will be ceramic, if it doesnt they will be porcelain tiles

And porcelain will be tough as old boots too...
Perfect for long life.
Ceramics just have a top glaze.

Re: Help Plz? Cermaic, Slate Or Porclein Tile?
If it says glazed porcelain on the box...then no need to seal.....
-
-
Re: Help Plz? Cermaic, Slate Or Porclein Tile?
and if it says Porcelain on the box, I'd guess they would be porcelain

-
Re: Help Plz? Cermaic, Slate Or Porclein Tile?
And therefore no need to do the water test

Cool !
PS: I know I've posted this site before but if anyone has any interest in porcelain tiles then this UK site is the absolute best.
Website
Whoever made that site knows absolute class - and for porcelain tiles it is one of the finest showcases I've seen online.
Superb examples of porcelain tiles...

If it's just residue, maybe, though I used to wash thoroughly and then put the tools int he van, and dust what I could off then too.
If it's down to you leaving the grout on too long before getting it off. Then I wouldn't ask the customer to finish the job for you.
So it sort of depends on what it actually is.

Get some Lithofin KF Cement Residue Remover, clean your tiles with this and then when all nice and clean, seal with Lithofin kf Stainstop. If it is general dirt and grime then you may need KF intensive cleaner instead of the Cement Residue remover. Depends what the dirt is, grout residue or just plain dirt!
Follow the instructions carefully in both cases.

Just a quick tip if you take one of the tiles and pick a corner or an edge mark it with a white board marker if you wipe it off and it doesnt leave a mark then no need to seal but if it leaves a mark then you will have to seal it. I never trust what it says on the box in the end the customer is going to be on your case for not doing it. Just make sure you put it in your quote depending on tile

If the tiles were porous then yes that would work but the majority of porcelain isn't that porous it is the open pores of the tiles surface that grab the grout etc and then make then hard to get it out/clean....
Thats where a protective impregnator comes in handy......to seal the open pores....
