Re: Polished marble not so shiney!!!
Do you know what type of marble? and where it comes from?
Marble is indeed expensive to buy, fix and maintain to keep it looking tip top.
With not being able to see the floor with my own eyes it's hard to judge whether it is a wax film or in the polished stone itself.
The best sound advice I could give in the forum would be to consult a stone finishing specialist.
Do not put anything on the stone in the meantime especially not vinegar or acid of any kind. warm soapy water should be your friend.

Re: Polished marble not so shiney!!!
Shop calls it Perlato Marble and it is from North of Turkey. What difference would it make if it is the wax film or the stone itself? I mean you can't see any difference when you look at it from the top but when the light shines it looks dull in some parts. And they said in 1 year time most of the polished marble would need repolishing because of the wear. Is that true?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Polished marble not so shiney!!!
Straight forward polishing of marble is not expensive. It is a very quick and easy process. The problem occurs when there are other problems suchy as acid etching, lippage etc etc. Any chance you can tell me the M2 involved, where you are in the country and post some pictures. I will try and advise you as best as possible. You may be able to rectify it yourself with the right products once we establish the problem.

I am flying to belfast next week how far are you from there? I will try and get to see you if you are not too far away!

Re: Polished marble not so shiney!!!
what I mean by "WAX" is that some stone producers mainly the Italians coat the marble in a thin wax coat to stop rubbing during transport, and as Kev has explained this would be a straight forward polish.
However not all marble are alike and some stones just don't polish up as well during the polishing process due to the hardness of areas within the stone, here a more substantial re-hone and polish might be called for.
Hope this might make things a bit clearer.

Hi
Ok Perlato comes from Italy so you have a lookyliky from Turkey so not strictly the same.
The fact it is on a few tiles might sugest that the slab the tiles were cut from has a soft spot through it which isnt taking the polish. This isnt uncommon.
I am assuming a fixer put them down so get him to take a look then the guy from the shop out and show him...........get him to replace the odd ones this is well within your right as its not directly visible and could be missed.
