    Default first time job

Hi folks, Im about to do my first commercial job. Its a small bathroom doing 600 x600 tiles onto a stone floor.
Can anyone offer me any advice or tips to make it go smoothly.
I will be visiting the site tommorow to see how level the floor is.

I use a big clinker tile cutter that will cut 600 tiles and an angle grinder.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jason

Hello jason and welcome to tilers forums.......

Firstly i would as you say check how flat the floor is and level to suit.....
once you start tiling use a solid bed trowel to make sure you get a solid fix.....

A pourable thickbed is good for large format tiles......

and most of all GOOD LUCK..

You need to check for any low spots and infill these with slc......then you can over the whole floor to get it perfectly flat for large format tiles...use a long straight edge to check how flat the floor is....you might just get away with a deep notch trowel and PTB adhesive..but you won't know until you see the floor......

would be better to check the floor out then report back to the forum with your results and we can advise from there....

    Thanks dave,
floor is really flat except for some cement around base of toilet which I think would come off with angle grinder/chisel. The floor is concrete with some sort of dark brown coating on it (might need sealed first ) . Really small area 4M2.
    Thanks for all the tips.

    Hi Dave

Just picking up on your conversation with Jason. could I ask you where i can get more info on the "pourable thickbed" you refer to. Also, you refer to "PTB adhesive". What type of adhesive is that?

    This is PTB adhesive.....

    BAL Pourable Thick Bed

A cement-based, polymer modified, rapid-setting, water-resistant, frost-resistant floor tile adhesive. Light grey, sulphate-resistant, pourable, thick-bed solid-bed floor tile adhesive suitable for fixing ceramic tiles, quarries, natural stone and terrazzo in interior and exterior situations. The consistency makes it particularly suitable for fixing large tiles and those with profiled backs. Back-buttering is not necessary. Suitable for use on concrete, cement:sand screeds, ceramic/quarry tile/terrazzo/hard natural stone, vinyl tile/sheet bases, mastic asphalt. Conforms to BS EN 12004, Type C, Class 1F.
