Alright
Not sure how what the best way to tackle 'boxing in' in pic, so that grout line is continuous onto next wall, tiles don't slip down and so that i can install a plastic trim at same time?
thanks
Aaron

ignore what i wrote, i thought that the boxing in needed doing, what i clicked on the pic, the boxing in was done (blended into the colour of the plaster)

Continue the tile through as if it was 1 (cut the 3 pieces out of 1 tile)
Batten accross for the 1st cut and work up when gone off remove batten put in trim and 3rd cut using nails instead of batten this will allow the trim to run through to the floor
@ TB Uhhh ?
Personally I would of started with the window wall

What substrate are you tiling to there..?...
Its thistle / multi coat can see over run at bottom of boxing Dave me thinks tho the way its drying looks over ply
,,
Wetdec yep i agree but theres a few reasons why i didn't start on that wall...its also my first job![]()
so much i've learnt from this one! so much i'll do differently on next! although its looking good so far.
Kind of understand what u r saying but how do u install trim when adhesive has gone off? the stuff i have slides under tile.
thanks
Aaron

Just on the window wall it looks like base coat..!!!
Yep it multifinish...and its been primed.
window wall sand and cement also primed.

Right i seeeeeee!!! thats OK then......just checking Aaron..
Left side of box tile first with batten leave dry, Right side of box put trim on then tile over it using nails not batten so trim can run through to floor m8
TIP
Start your window wall before doing boxing, get your window lines in top and bottom. If you do this first and you are slightly out on grout lines with wall you have done you can try losing the difference in the boxing.
Boxing has 3 corners you can lose the difference on, you cant lose inches but will give you some movement m8

ok m8 but one more question if i do left side first then put trim on how do i bring grout line round to right side...gestimate it?
Put bottom tile on first no trim line up and nail when line is right, take tile off put trim on then off you go.
I edited above READ it b4 u do boxing
..
so your saying i should do the window wall before doing the boxing in on this job?
Finish the tiled wall you have already done, then level line around the boxed in section and across the window wall, place tiles on small reveal first so that tiles line up into corner cut trim to length and continue tiling around the other side of the box then continue around to the window wall. Can't really see what the problem is.
By the way you missed a bit (Top corner)![]()

I am saying if its your first job get the lines in for your window which is the hardest part for you. If when you do this you find yourself in a tight spot with levels then the boxing can help you out.
The eye cant deal with 3 corners at the same time so you can use it to lose or gain a little height if need be.
You with me ?? You know how to set your window wall out ??
..
With setting out window wall i was hoping to bring the line around from boxing in and then batten across then work out with staf best cuts round window etc put plumb vertical line down to batten and tile away.

Hey thats cool the reason I have said go the other way is the cut above your window looks like it could be tight for you m8.
Tell you what put level accross corner from grout line to window wall, when you have a level mark it then see how it works with your window cuts for the head.
Doing this will decide which way you go.
Not trying to confuse you just looks on pic like the head cut could be tight
..
Thanks everyone for all your help i'll read through all this info later and come up with a plan i'll post pics when finished.
Aaron

cheers Aaron..pics would be good.....enjoy and we will wait for those pics..![]()
Plastered and Tiled walls
Job done! Tiling took me a week! No doubt next 1 will be alot quicker. Customer very happy.
one question though...
The ceiling was bowing towards the centre on the window wall so i measured and cut all tiles individually...then cut them straight...should i have cut them at the same angle as ceiling to run in line with the ceiling?
when i read through this post before tiling the boxing in i understood it as the boxing in should have 3 cuts...2 half tiles on the front so when looking at it looks like the full tiles follow round...i started doing this but the builder came in and told me to change it back to full tile on front unless i cleared my ideas with customer.
