Discuss re-grouting in the Tiling Forum at TilersForums; does anyone bother with re-grouting jobs? i'v got a fein mulitmaster with a grout removing blade but i'd be scared of damaging the tile edge in a thin (i.e. 2mm) ...

    Default re-grouting

    does anyone bother with re-grouting jobs?
    i'v got a fein mulitmaster with a grout removing blade but i'd be scared of damaging the tile edge in a thin (i.e. 2mm) grout line

    Yip, thats the problem, your safest way to do it is manually with a grout rake but you'll go through loads of rakes and probably elbows too

    Removing grout manually can be very hard work.

    Mate, with a bit of patience the FEIN is amazing, I have done lots of removals with it, 2mm included. I find that getting close to the tiles to be able to see what is being removed a lot easier, just remember to wear those safety specs!
    If in doubt, get some super cheap tiles and some ply or plaster board and set yourself up a load of tiles at 2mm gaps and grout, use it a practice board to work out the most comfortable way of holding the FEIN to get the best accuracy. Best to practice it first!
