Default removing individual tiles (not whole wall)

    Hi there

Any advice would be appreciated on the best way to remove a single tile from a bathroom wall. I have a few 'single tiles' to replace - some cracked, some with old drill holes. What is the best approach to take to minimize damage to the neighbouring tiles?

The wall is plasterboard, so I'm expecting to have to repair that somewhat, but I'm more concerned about keeping the tile damage down to a minimum.

    Thanks in anticipation!

cut the grout joint out with a grinder(needs a steady hand)
and then you can smash out the tile without damaging any other tiles

Yeah agree with that, rake all grout out around the whole tile then just break it out.

The point about a steady hand with the grinding tool is oh so valid cos if you slip you will be taking out more tiles ..! do you know anyone who has a Fein Tool or any other make of vibrating blade grinder, these are far better for removing the grout.
Also make sure you overlap the grout lines around the tile before trying to remove it.

You can also just break the tile out starting from the middle of the tile with a hammer and small cold chisel...them use a thin blade scraper ( or similar ) and gently remove the grout....this will reduce the chance of damaging adjacent tiles with a grinder....
