I've just started up and have got a few quotes and a couple of jobs from the flyers i put out so for me its been worthwhile. I also find most people keep them as i have had some phone calls from flyers i put through doors a month ago.
It won`t hurt put it that way! To save money what i did was get my logo on my computer and created my own fliers and printed them off at home. Got a couple of jobs out of them and cost me nothing
Turkish
wHAT COMPANY DID YOU USE NICKJ
My brother is in print so got him to do me some.
One thing i would say is make them stand out a little, your better off paying a little extra to have the colour on them so that they get noticed.
Personally I have a bathroom as the background of mine with the writing over the top which really makes it stand out.
hi tysfoot long time no speak i personally think flyers are a waste of time in my opinion are you starting back on your own or trying to get employed. i know a firm in bolton that take on tilers quite a large firm i can send you a pm

I've never tried flyers, so cant say if they did / didnt get me work, although i can say that i get stacks through my door every week, the only one's i take any notice of are for the local takeaways, and taxi numbers![]()
gotta say i read the local tandoori menus and intend on trying something new but when you have a butchers at what they have to offer its just all the same, so i stick with my regular cos i know its gonna be good everytime. deffinately worth the 100 yard drive
not that it has much relevancyto tiling but nevermind![]()

worth a go at 20 squid, but the only way is to go round chapping doors , talk to every builder, kitchen/bathroom fitter, plumber, tile shop, etc etc in your area and sell yourself, also a portfolio of your work is a big help!!!![]()

The only thing you will get from flyers is cheap jobs.

If you want to look like a gypsy/pikey/traveller then they work great
What's the best way to distribute them, every house on the selected street, random houses that look like they need modernising, houses that have just been sold, houses with skips outside that are having work done, post office/ papershop windows?
Just wondering as I printed 1k off in my last few days at work on a decent colour printer before I left the company and they look alright, they'll soon be ordering a new toner!![]()
Anything works if you put your heart to it
He who dares and all that
best of luck mate

There is a simple formula banded about of 1 in 100 will respond. And 1 in 1000 will actually result in work.
So in theory there are 5 potential jobs in your 5000 leaflets.
We use leaflets and for every 5000 tile / plumb shops we hit about 5 shops stock our range.
But long term its worth noting that years later people do remember you and come back later. Same for us. Example: At Grand Designs show some bloke walked up to stand, complained he spent ages tracking us down at the show because he had turned up specifically that year to get some drills from us. And he was holding a leaflets that we printed three years ago. Bloody hell!
Just remember leaflets only work in bulk. For £20 you have a great deal ! We pay 9p each for an A4 full colour print both sides. [£450]

Kind of agree with it only getting cheap jobs.
My experience led me to knock it on the head a few years ago. You tend to just get people wanting reapir jobs, re grouting etc..... ends up a pain.
a portfolio is a very good idea i've got one and it help's me get work not alway's the cheapest quote but when people see what you can do they don't mind paying that bit more
I also kind of agree with only getting "cheaper" jobs from flyers, although I've never used them myself, I get them through my door and if I'm brutally honest - I don't even look at single colour, cheap looking flyers.
I spent £400 which was/is a lot of cash when I first set up last year. This was with a lady who produces a really quality "Local" brochure with a distribution only to the areas of Preston with real disposable income. I rang a few of her advertisers to check if it was working for them and all their feedback was good.
It costs me £400 for 3 months / brochures going to 2 main areas of Preston.
I only have a 1/4 page ad but it looks good in full colour.
I've been in for 3 editions now and had around 12 jobs from it. I also know people keep them rather than chuck them out.
And because of the type of area these go into, I can comfortably charge £150-£200 a day for a quality job.
Think twice about "cheaper" marketing - ultimately it will mark your name and reputation for good or for bad.
