i got a second hand plasterers spotboard off ebay for £8.50, and just use a piece of ply wood ontop, works a treat, holds my wet and dry cutter, nice and sturdy
tho the stand was a bit too small i got an old pair of crutches and cut them up and slotted them over the spot stand legs and hey presto instant height raised, ah im in a good mood ill go take a picture

the crutches were a nice snug fit so no guaruntees all the spot stands will be the same diameter, tho any cheap steel tubing will do the job, old steel curtain rail was my first option till i discovered the crutches fit perfectly
