whats your biggest tip?
Being newish to the tiling game and recently joined this forum, and having learnt so much in the space of a few months from both my course and this forum.
If you were to give any advice/tip that is worth its weight in gold what would it be?
Tiling related by the way before someone pipes up with "dont eat yellow snow" or something!!!

never ever ever rush setting out the most important part of the job

never rush a finishing touches, Grouting can make or break a job.

total agree with you there mate
i work commercially and have seen many a good job ruined by a rushed grouter

measure twice cut once
take your time grouting its as important as the tiling
tiling in a domestic setting is 80% aesthetic (if it look right it is right )
ear endeth the lesson

Every job is a new challenge, dont take anyting for granted, 12 years and im still learning...x

Dont start tiling a wall unless you can finish it all, if you stop half way and then go back to it there's no way to juggle or adjust things particularly on "bad" walls.

Don't put your first tile on until you know where the last one is going

Always accept the first cuppa when asked because if you turn it down you want be asked again

Better to put up 5m2 right than 10m2 wrong....................

oh yes, and when going around to quote, take a level etc and check every thing, that way you can only be honest with the state of play, clients like that.............

so in conclusion, keep your mind on the job from setting up until you put your kit in the van, when the jobs finished. But enjoy it, at the same time.

dont put your whites in with your coloureds

Read. The. Product. Specs. And. Guidelines.

Always respect your customers property....be it the drive way when mixing adhesives to putting down dustsheets on carpets etc and most of all be polite.....

if you drop a wee bit of addy on floor, clean it up right away. Then you wont spend time cleaning it later when you have got it everywhere.
Work clean!!!

Never leave any job, unless you would be happy with the same standard in your own home. This goes way beyond the tiling ability , it's about respect for people and property....this is the foundation of a successful tiler......Gaz

A clean job is a safe job......And allways have a few long leccy pins for those kitchen sockets dont want to be leaving them hanging of after you tile'
And allways work from your own datum line on walls.
Also if at first you dont succeed ...then skydiving is not for you

Always clean your tools at the end of the day,no matter how late it is.
