family tiling rates
I've been asked to price up tiling my mother in laws kitchen/diner and hallway, 22 SQM in total
its all straight forward no patern no border ,i have to self level it and that's it.
shes wants to use 300x300 ceramic tiles.
(i'm still new-ish to tiling so still have a regular job ,going to do it evenings and the weekend .)
obviously i'm not gonna charge her a regular rate but what price would you guy's recomend or do it for in the same position?
cheers
mike

Re: family tiling rates
The only mates rate and family rate I have is FREE (when I can fit it in).
That way they can't / won't complain as they always tend to!

Re: family tiling rates
For me, it depends on how big and difficult the job is, but generally I charge somewhere in the region of 1/3 to 1/2 of the normal rate. That way, I feel I get something for the job, while the relative/friend feels it's worth something. I don't charge percentage on materials though, as I usually do.
If the job is really small, like a splash back, I do it for free, or dirt cheap.

Re: family tiling rates
for my mother in law i'd charge £800000 Coz she's a dragon LOL!!
I have been doing a few family jobs recently and made the mistake of doing one half price until all the rest of the family expected theirs at the same rate. ****!!!

For family and friends it's free, though they have always insisted I take some form of payment, even a token jesture.

i did 15 sqm bathroom for a mate plus 8 sqm kitchen floor. he supplied mats but never offered me a penny. didnt even offer to buy me a pint when we left and went to the pub. anyway he now has a splashback tiled and not grouted and no tiling round his window. its been like that for 3 months now

Re: family tiling rates
You said you are not full time at the tiling so I would use it as practice and just charge materials.
