| concerns halfway through job | | hi all,im halfway through a showerroom refit,,walls are lath n plaster in decent nick but not perfect and the tiles im puting up are 1000mm by 300mm 12mm thick each tile weight 7.5 kilos..i know lath n plaster isnt suitable for holding this type of weight and have told the customer this ,,the reply was they wanted the job done.i dont feel too comfortable doing this incase these give way and injure somone.also would i be liable or would the customer be at fault as iv already told him this wasnt suitable,,would you guys touch the job or would you walk away..i have a lot more (safe ) work off this customer coming up and am concerned im going to lose it all if i rtefuse to do this showerroom with the overloading tiles.whatsd your veiws and advice? cheers  | | |

| Re: concerns halfway through job | | i managed to get him to buy backerboards for the nasty chipboard boxing in on either side of the shower wall but not for anywhere else..also tanked the whole wall surrounding shower to ensure no water damage,,im not 100 percent happy doing this job so i suppose that gives me my answer doesnt it,,i shouldnt be doing it.just a pity as ill lose tonnes of work i guess. | | |

Your tiles are 25 kgs per sq mtr. I would try to get you customer to sign a disclaimer of some kind. | | |

It is these particular cases when people bury their head in the sand that lead to dangerous applications, as a pro we have a duty to prevent this from happening.....Gaz |
