Ah well - it's a fair cop!

Enjoy your course though - fairly steady for the first 2 weeks - constantly called 'upstairs' for lectures etc - but the 3rd and 4th weeks - blimey what a learning curve - steep or what? Still good though.

A tip - write down any pearls of wisdom given - as the notes are pretty crap (unless they have improved them) and quite sparse - in fact I think a few were missing in our handouts.

I take it you are doing the 4 weeks in one go - best option

Worked in a warehouse for a few months after leaving school, but started the tiling as an apprentice when I was 16. Was out of my time when I was 19 and I'm 21 now. Used to be a paper boy in my younger days!

Thanks Frogeye. Going on what I have read on here I hope I get Beano as my Tutor. A lot of people on here appear to have a lot of respect for his abilities.

I am slightly wary as to the level of instruction I will receive. After all it's a lot of money to shell out. Your note on the lack of course notes is a bit worrying.

By the way, going on what I have read on here so far regarding prices to charge for tiling, I am correct in estimating between £20 & £25 psm excluding materials ?

Debt collection will come in handy for a tiler carl,Jim just think that you are still much better off than others, would you rather have no money or be in a predicament like the McCanns.Thats how I always look at things when I'm down, theres always someone worse off.

Made Surfboards for 20+ years, still do when work slows down. It's great here in sunny Cornwall.

Left school and went to college to do a GNVQ in sport and leaisure. Went on to Liverpool uni to do a degree in sports Science & football (yes you can now do a degree in the science of football!). Did that, during which time i coached football to youngsters for the galactico's of Nottingham Forest. Also went to America for three months to coach 'soccer'. That was mint but only a three month contract.

Went out to Malia for a summer and worked in a bar dragging the British p***heads of the streets trying to force ale down their necks (quite easy really!). After uni, gor a job as a Sports Development Officer in a school which was a lottery funded post, but crap money, boring job, working with a bunch of t****rs where people can't get anything sorted like adults. The types who have a meeting about having a meeting and still nothing sorted.

Decided i would try my hand at Tiling so did a PITT 4 week course a year ago and have been tiling since then. Can't say i wake up everyday and look forward to going to work and tiling doesn't really fill me with joy, but the money can be good and it can be satisfying when you get good walls, nice tiles etc. On the other hand, you can get cheapo tiles and bumpy walls and be pulling your hair out for most of the day . Got lots of work on but it stresses me out trying to fit everyone in, but it would also stress me out if i had no to book in. Swings and roundabouts i suppose. Like you say, their are always people out there in worse situations than you so you have to look on the bright side.

First job was customs clearance & air freight forwarding agent, then a service leader for leading pallet company. Now, and for the last 8 years have been Transport & Fleet Manager for a plant hire co., hiring and selling portakabins. Only really started tiling back in February in the evenings and on weekends. Am on my 6th job now with another 4 lined up, and gradually getting quicker.
