Life is pretty tough for everyone at the moment Chris. A lot of sites have stopped production and the subbies working there are now having to ply their trade in the domestic market. All because of the current economic climate.

The only thing to do is keep plugging away with your marketing. Do a search of the forums with a string like "finding Work" and see wht comes up. There has been loads written before on this very subject.

done a leaflet drop today of 300 leaflets,,spoke to a bathroom fitter already on one job whos gonna sub me which is good ,plus another 2 people who were getting extensions built i spoke to said theyd keep me in mind so might be worth a shot targetting houses with work being done,,what i have noticed is theres a lotta companies out there doing everything,,not convinced they have tradesmen for every job just half decent at most themselves,,theyll be mopping up a lotta work,,was thinking of doing a plastering course and a plumbing course as well so i cd do bathroom refits.

    Hi all
Its all about developing some relationships between yourself and other tradesmen
I am a tiler but have diversified into full kitchen and bathroom instalations, my electrician, gas fitter, decorator and builder/plasterer all get work from my jobs and in return i get work from them, we never let each other down, do a good job and dont lift anyones leg. the customer deals with one person and has no project management issues to worry about.

offer to help out at a reduced day rate (or even for free if you havent got any work on) with any mates in other trades to pick up some basic skills and know how rather than going on courses that way you learn from within the trade, get to know the lads at the merchants, and from other subies who may put a bit your way.

if they know your face then getting a trade account can be easier

it also takes time so be patient and keep pluging away

    good luck
