Default Would you consider a mobile credit card terminal? or waste of money

Some of you were saying about cashflow and getting paid on time.

Just a thought... We rent a mobile credit card terminal for £29.95 per month with a minimum service charge of £12.50

Would the ability to collect payment from clients "at the door" be a solution for £43 a month? Or is that too much to pay out?

Just a suggestion for those who do a lot of small jobs. Probably a waste of time if you do mostly large jobs or get paid on time or in cash.

If anything then at least you know the costs....

As for me we do exhibitions and were renting terminals at £25 per day. would have been £625 for the IDEAL HOME show next year at 25 days long so we saved money by long term renting. Its costing us £360 a year in rent.

I'm just setting up my tiling business, as a taxi driver i can accept all cards via my mobile phone and thought i might carry this throught to tiling.
With the one i use for the taxi their is a 2% charge (minimum £2).
Pm me if you want details and i'll look for them.
I'm sure you can use a similar system for tiling.

I haven't been asked yet if I take credit cards so never crossed my mind. I will cross the bridge when I come to it.

I must admit i have thought about it in the past. I think if you made the customer aware they were able to pay by card then a lot of people would take you up on it. Only viable if you are always busy. Not for me at the moment though, its another £40 bill i dont need

The system i use is rent free and no set up fee's (forgot to say that) just use your mobile 0870 number.
Think its a 10% charge though.

You have to be VERY careful with them. Replacement for lost or stolen is £500 with a £30 configuration charge.

Damage is between £100 and £500 depending on what was done to it.

Grouting a keypad would be a bit of a no no....

When I take mine to Tile & Stone show it will be kept in a safe spot and taken home every night.

Get a Paypal account then you can accept card payments, most of your customers will have one if they use Ebay, add the charge onto the customers.
I bet alot of people will take you up on it because paying say £700 out of their bank accounts can be difficult for a job, alot of people would rather use a credit card and spread the payments
