Smile Cutting Aluminium Tile Trim

Sorry for the daft question but new to tiling, using Schluter 10mm auminium tile trim inside small bathroom window reveal and need to cut angles. Can I use hacksaw and mitre box?

Yes no problem. You may find a full size hacksaw will be better with fine teeth. I cut with a jnr hacksaw mostly and have little trouble though.

Yep, if you are only doing a couple of mitres - then a small mitre box is the best tool to use. For best results use a normal hacksaw with 32psi blade (very fine teeth). Just remeber that for best results you need to change your hacksaw blade regular. I only make about 10-20 cuts per blade before changing (or change each job). Just keep fingers clear, as metal trim tends to slide in the mitre box. Hope this helps

Thanks for that Rob I actually went out at the weekend and bought a couple of 32tpi blades and a wooden mitre box. Think when I cut it I'll use some masking tape and some sort of clamping arrangement to stop it sliding around. Just for reference for anyone else I can tell you that neither Wickes or B&Q/Depot don't sell these blades (only 18 or 24tpi) but Screwfix Trade Counter in Watford had them in stock.

Also with some schluter trims you can get pre-made corners......

But if care is taken you will get good results from mitering.......
