skimming with rapidet flex
I am repairing some outide steps. I have removed the old tiles and there is some adhesive residue left and some minor damage to the substrate as per usual. I want to smooth the area over before retiling. In the past i have generally used Acrybase or Bal quickset cement. Would it be ok to use rapidset flex to skim over the area to a few mm then tile the next day using rapidset again. Could there be bond problems and does rapidset flex require any sort of curing time?
thanks

Re: skimming with rapidet flex
Im pretty sure skimming over with rapid set you can tile as soon as it's dried 4/6 hours, however i dont think noraml rapidset is suitable for tiling outside with? One of the more expierienced guys might correct me and let you know what to do for the best. Hope it helps abit

Re: skimming with rapidet flex
If what you are patching and it is no deeper than the recommended thickness for the adhesive and it is frost resistant adhesive then it will be ok.....but note that not all adhesives are suitable to be used this way...some can be used for smoothing and tiling some can't.....

Re: skimming with rapidet flex
I think most of us will have done this at some point. I just had a thought that the coat used to skim may still be curing to some degree and that by adding a second bed to apply the tile the bond may be affected which could lead to failure at a later stage. May be being a bit anal but like to do things correct.
