    Default Quarter Round on Skirting

Just layed a floor 9m2 in a sunroom. The customer wasnt willing to have the skirtings taken off and just wanted the tiles up to the skirting then either a silicone bead around the room or a 1/4 round bead pinned to the skirtings as they are new and the painter is still to come in and paint the room they'd be painted same as the skirtings.

I think because its basically a sitting room that the 1/4 round could look more finished and suit the room better than silicone as you would in a working room (bathroom or kitchen?.

    Any thoughts guys>?

    Hi Davie

I think you are right - the best look would have been to remove the skirting, but 2nd best has to be the quadrant. I don't fancy the silicone in the room you are in to be honest.

What a shame they didnt get the skirting off.

Sunrooms tend to expand and shrink due to heat changes and can pop the beads off after a few years. Also when mopping the floor beads tend to collect water and dust.

    So I would silicone.

In fact I would actually leave it. Let the painter finish it off !

If you silicone then he has to cut the paint in. Its easier for him to paint / gloss and then silcone after.

Would look better removing the skirting, tile upto the wall then skirting back on top.
