    I would not tile onto chipboard anyway....but as he didn't say he was tiling onto it..it doesn't matter......

    I'd never tile onto chipboard (or MDF for that matter). Always overboard with ply or cement boards.

    Chipboard is basically compressed wood chippings so could de-laminate at will, so does not provide a stable substrate to tile onto.

    I know some will say that they will tile onto chipboard but IMHO it is a complete no no.

    No not tiling onto chipboard going to overply. I just wondered as one side of the chipboard said THIS SIDE it is P5 grade chipboard is there any difference between P4 and P5?

    use 12mm ply and screw down at 300mm intervals in a grid format,to be safe ,there are ways around it though which not everyone will agree with so ply out m8...lol
