My existing flooring is good quality Rhino vinyl sheeting. I'm planning to lay 500*500 porcelain tiles using BAL single part flexible. The floor is solid flooring grade chipboard (new 1991). It's been suggested that tiling over the vinyl would provide a free insulation layer rather removing it and tiling directly onto the chipboard. Is this a good idea? The room size is circa 40 sq m so I want to get it right!

You have to take the vinyl up ,it only takes for the vinyl to come loose and the floor would be ruined.

Definitely take it up........the vinyl is not stable enough to tile to and could breakdown with time thus causing the tiles to de-laminate......
