I have been contacted today stating that P.I.T.T. have gone under..?
And this person is none to happy.
Anybody heard anything..?
just had a look on their forum, someone is part way through a course after paying £1,600....they have been told not to return. the owners have not commented on the thread as yet..
TileForums.com -> Pitt Ltd Con
Plastering & Tiling Solutions.

I spoke to that lad today on the phone.. He lives not far from me, he is gutted after they phoned him as he has a wife and kid... would be better that they confirmed this though..

same as above ive just been on there forum , the lad says they have took his money , and cancelled the course

thats another big name in the training course game gone I hope the lad gets his money back
Well that was a bit sudden, I thought they were the "Leading Tiling Training Centre in the UK".
Pretty sure it'll be true if they're not removing that thread, answering the phones, and it appears they've removed their mobiles that they used to have for out of hours support. And their website says no dates available for courses (in one part but I got to the booking form on another part).
The training centre does look shut but their big van that they do their tiling work in isn't there. But there's some old blue banger there.

Wall and floor tiler in the West Midlands, Dudley, Stourbridge. www.nptiling.co.uk
i hope they havnt i was one of the 1st trained out of PITT along time ago in fact the trainer was a bit of a spotty nerdy stokey kid he was only about ten at the time cant remember his name couldnt half drink thou and smoked like a chimney
Times are hard and i know if you are on the brink of going bump the downside is you dont get time to always do the decent thing ie call up customers
Dan (12-03-2011)
lol Chris. I always smoked outside. And my name was Dan![]()
I got replaced by a Car Salesmen who had zero experience although they claimed he had. He too can drink. lol
Paul Riley may have seen this coming as he has a van now offering his wall and floor tiling services so it looks like he's been on the tools for a while maybe?

Well, maybe so. But if you're in debt, you know how much debt it is. And such an established business could predict its income over the coming weeks if not months (albeit profit or loss). So I'd have thought it would be pretty easy to know when the end days is and you have to call it quits. The only other thing that would delay you announcing it is if you put a last call into the bank and lay your cards out, and if the banks working things out and getting back to you then it wouldn't be wise to announce anything as that in its self could close the business.
I can't see them pulling a pheonix on purpose to be honest. Unlike some other training centre we know. But still, goes to show they were willing to take money at a time they must have knew they were struggling which is a bit underhand but perhaps unavoidable to a certain extent.
A bit gutted as I helped build up their first stage of that business. And tried a couple of times to get their forum going even after then (which resulted in me making this one - so not a bad move I guess).
Tough times though I guess. I don't blame Riley going back on the tools. Though their van had been stickered "wall and floor tilers" for some time to be honest. So perhaps getting the bread and butter sorted and trying to keep the bigger business afloat is just a bit too much for anybody?
I know we've clashed here and there over the years but I wish them all the best with whatever all of them do.
That is; if this isn't some big weird hoax. That'd be a shock now wouldn't it! lol

Well, it's true then.
Members/Friends,
Yes the news is true as of Friday afternoon PITT ltd and Trades Direct has ceased trading, this has come to us as much as a shock as everyone else.
As you all know times are tough at the moment but this situation has been forced upon us by HM revenue & customs which left us with no alternative but to take voluntary liquidation.
We have not taken any money corruptly as this only happened Friday afternoon, and thank you to those of you who know that this is not how we ran the business.
All the team at PITT/Trades Direct are devastated as you can imagine as a lot of time, effort and money has gone in to the business over the last 7/8 years.
PITT/Trades Direct was a small family business which among other staff included Paul his wife Sharon his daughter Angela and my self Paul’s son in law. So as you can all see for us all now to be left in this situation with a un certain future this has not been an easy decision.
We are truly sorry to any one who has booked on a course and you will be contacted by the liquidators in due course.
This web site will not be going down any time soon so please carry on posting as normal.
As all you regular users know Paul has dedicated his life to PITT and this forum, emotions are still very raw and please give him time.
I personally would like to thank all of you on here for making this the best tiling forum and for all your help and support of the past years.
Thanks again Phil

I just seen that..
Well i wish all trainees who booked a course and have not received the training, that they do get their money back some way..If you have booked via credit card then please do contact your card comp ASAP.. and let us know how you get on.
If anybody knows of the liquidators (probably get a letter next week) then let the forums (all of them) know. As some people may have not got the letter.

Grow UP!!!! losers.. is my message.. what a SAD SAD bunch you are..FFS what about all those trainees who have lost money.. The one that phoned me today has a family to cater for and you can only slag others off for posting news to the industry that is TRUE!!.. You sad lot make my blood boil.... Enjoy your little back stabbing empire..lets get all members over to BAL forum..
A bit of advice here for those affected and those considering a course in the future: Confirmed: PITT has gone into voluntary liquidation | Tile News
As for the spam on their forum, I'd ignore it. Sour grapes springs to mind, they didn't mind me blogging about PTS/STC or Diamond did they? Forget about them.

I agree Dan.. it is the peeps who have lost their money we are trying to help and not those who think they have lost a place to chat.. What losers they are..
Surely if loads of people had lost money on these courses, then they wouldn't have gone down the swaney. Just a thought.

Nah!.. it's just when a comp has not made enough to keep a float that this happens.... it is early days y et to see how many have lost money as it only happened yesterday..
to those that have lost out then please do get in touch and those of you that have used a credit card then contact your card provider asap to see how you stand.
It wasn't a small business to be fair so there would have been lots of factors but clearly funding was the main issue, as they didn't have their TAX bill or whatever Phil suggests in their announcement.
However these things can happen I guess. Best thing we can be getting on with is helping the guys stuck for training.
Tiling Courses and Tiling training From Chase Tiling Academy and Construction Assessment Group and Construction Skills College Limited : Quality Training Courses in Plastering courses – Plumbing courses – Tiling courses – Electrical courses – Carpentry Courses – Joinery courses – Kitchen Fitting Courses – Bricklaying courses – Painting and Decorat are our Midlands training centre's. But NE Tiling and Construction Training are for the north (where the guy that first reported the PITT thing comes from) and Tiling Courses and Training: 1-6 Week Courses in Tiling and Plumbing Course | Construction Training | Electrician Courses | DIY Skills are our Southern recommendations for tiling courses.
And as I've said on the blog, with all the training centre's you can pay by a credit card. And if you don't have a credit card (or even have poor credit) you can get a pre-paid credit card that you stick money onto yourself and then pay using it. And it comes with the usual credit card protection I believe (worth double checking mind!).
So please do book on credit when you can, even if it's not with our recommended centre's.

I went on their forum. Seems only 3 people were on that course last week.
Hopefully only a few more will be affected then. Fingers crossed they get their money back. But if it aint credit card, from our recent experience, it's difficult if the company has no asetts.

I've been on the end of it before.
Owed money by a contractor for him to go bust, you get a letter from the liquidators to find your name 5 pages in. With the banks and HMRC at the top of the list.
Not nice for anyone, but banks, laywers and accountants.
And the tax man.

I would just like to say to all that are undertaking our courses currently and are booked to do courses in the future with NETT, i can personally assure you that we are a strong company with a good reputation so anybody sightly worried about things like this happening to us need not be worried, we still have courses running every week with good attendances, visit any centre if you live close enough and see how things are running, you should get an indication from that on how they are doing,
I have been a trusted member on here for 5 years or so and all that have trained with myself will know how genuine we are as a company and how we try and help people to get where they want to be
Best Regards
Darren

Thanks Darren, it is hard times for some , like i said though it is trainees that we are concerned about..if you as a training comp can help those involved then that is great..

Times are tough, some companies are finding thing really difficult and on the verge of collapse and tilers wont be the only ones affected, there will be loads of people who have paid money for goods or services that will be in the same position where the company has gone bust and they are out of pocket, the advice given on the last posts is the best advice that can be given and get in touch with the credit card companies and try and retrieve their money,
Anyone that has been affected and out of pocket with PITT, if they give us a ring we can discuss some discounts with those individuals so they can complete their training
Regards
Darren
Turns out that PITT filed for insolvency on the 10th Jan 2011. Viewing Page 1247 of Issue 822918 and perhaps it wasn't just a sudden thing.
